We know everyone is eager for clean streets, and we’re getting some inquiries about when street sweeping will begin. While spring is just around the corner, we have to wait until pavement temperatures consistently stay above zero before we can get started.
Why?
Our sweepers use a fine water spray to keep dust under control. If temperatures are still below freezing, that water freezes, and the dust and debris stay stuck to the pavement, making sweeping ineffective.
When will we start?
The long-range forecast shows temperatures are slowly rising, so we anticipate getting underway later in March! Our sweeping schedule will begin with downtown, school zones, the hospital area, and main routes before moving into residential areas on a rotating basis.
Thank you for your patience—we’ll be out there as soon as the weather allows!
