How Creston looks and feels is shaped by the Official Community Plan. The Official Community Plan is a land-use planning tool that guides Council and staff in their decision and strategies for development, zoning, services, and other infrastructure and amenities. In 2016-2017, the Official Community Plan was developed in extensive consultation with the public to ensure public opinion and interest in future planning issues were considered. In 2023, the Official Community Plan underwent a five-year community check-in to connect and ensure that the Town of Creston continues to meet the community's needs.
The Official Community Plan establishes policies which Council and the public can use to evaluate development proposals and ensure they are consistent with the community's long-term plans. The Official Community Plan is updated regularly to ensure that it reflects the long-term planning objectives of the Town of Creston on behalf of residents.
