The current Backyard Hen Pilot Program is a unique initiative trialing the allowance of Backyard Hens on certain properties in Town. Only those who possess a valid Backyard Hen Pilot Program Licence may keep hens on their property.
- Backyard Hen Pilot Program licences shall be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Prospective hen owners must apply to the Town for a Backyard Hen Pilot Program licence on the prescribed form provided by the Town and pay the fee set out in the current Fees and Charges Bylaw, and upon receipt of the application and payment of the prescribed fee, the Manager of Community Planning & Development, or designate, shall review the application. If the application is found to be in conformance with this Bylaw, the Town shall issue a numbered Hen licence valid until October 31, 2024.
- A Hen Owner must, on or before October 31, 2024, remove all Hens from their property.
