Pet Licences

• Dogs over the age of six months must have a valid pet licence.
• After the application is received and the licence fee is paid, the owner will be issued a numbered dog licence and corresponding licence tag.
• Dog licences expire on the 31^st of December each year and must be renewed annually. 
• The owner must affix the licence tag to their dog’s collar, harness, or other suitable device.

• Cats over the age of six months must have a valid pet licence. 
• After the application is received and the licence fee is paid, the owner will be issued a numbered cat licence and corresponding licence tag.
• Cat licences expire on the 31^st of December each year and must be renewed annually. 
• The owner must affix the licence tag to their cat’s collar, harness, or other suitable device, OR ensure that a cat that is not wearing the current licence has Permanent Identification with the identification information outlined in the application.

The current Backyard Hen Pilot Program is a unique initiative trialing the allowance of Backyard Hens on certain properties in Town. Only those who possess a valid Backyard Hen Pilot Program Licence may keep hens on their property.

• Backyard Hen Pilot Program licences shall be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.
• Prospective hen owners must apply to the Town for a Backyard Hen Pilot Program licence on the prescribed form provided by the Town and pay the fee set out in the current Fees and Charges Bylaw, and upon receipt of the application and payment of the prescribed fee, the Manager of Community Planning & Development, or designate, shall review the application. If the application is found to be in conformance with this Bylaw, the Town shall issue a numbered Hen licence valid until October 31, 2024. 
• A Hen Owner must, on or before October 31, 2024, remove all Hens from their property.
