Our wastewater treatment plant is one of the most significant assets that the Town of Creston has. Every municipality in Canada is mandated to have a system in place to deal with bio-solids management, which is a part of the wastewater treatment process. All wastewater treatment processes are subject to stringent regulations from the Ministry of Environment in order to greatly reduce potential contamination of the environment. As a result, any changes or upgrades to infrastructure are a major undertaking. Thanks to nearly $3 million in federal and provincial grant funding received through the Strategic Gas Tax, with additional funding from the Columbia Brewery and the Town’s sewer reserve fund (approximately $1 million), the permanent bio-solids handling system for the wastewater treatment plant is now complete!
