[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Update - June 10, 2020

Creston, BC – June 10, 2020:  The Provincial state of emergency has been extended by the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, Mike Farnworth, until the end of the day on June 23, 2020 to support continued coordination of the COVID-19 pandemic response.

Re-Opening Playground Equipment:  At the Regular Council Meeting held on June 9, 2020, Council adopted the Playground Equipment Opening Policy. As of Thursday, June 11, 2020, Town owned playgrounds and outdoor “green gym” exercise equipment will be re-opened for use by the public. Town of Creston Council and staff ask that playground and park users practice proper hand hygiene by washing their hands immediately before and after using the playground equipment and to carry and use hand sanitizer if washroom facilities are unavailable.  In order to be able to maintain physical distancing, we ask that if parks and equipment are busy, to return later. When using the playground equipment, please remember:

  • If you are sick or have any cold/flu symptoms, stay home
  • Only children are allowed on playground equipment
  • Keep 2 meters distant from anyone outside your household
  • Take turns, be patient; and above all else,
  • Be kind

Please note that the playground and outdoor exercise equipment will not be cleaned or sanitized.  At this time, the splash park remains closed.
