In the words of Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, “the modelling released today clearly shows the resiliency and 100% commitment of everyone in B.C. is having a positive impact. We are bending the curve.” Keep going, Creston! We will get through this together.
Talking with kids about COVID-19: Explaining COVID-19 to our children is challenging. Harder still - navigating the emotions, questions, new routines and boredom they are experiencing. Below are resources to support families and children including tips for managing anxiety and to how to talk to your kids about this health crisis.
- Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educators (EASE) offers helpful tips for parents, like how to teach children calming breathing techniques or use structured games like scavenger hunts to build routine in a way that’s fun.
- We Well- Being was recently launched as part of the new WE Schools at home program. Accessible for grades K-12 in both English and French, the program is aimed at youth who are experiencing anxiety and social isolation.
- Sesame Street launched a site with resources and videos for families and children covering topics including “Talking about COVID-19 with Children”, “Managing Uncertainty: Embracing a For Now Normal” and “Comfort Strategies.”

Canada Border Services Agency: The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) – Rykerts crossing has temporarily reduced their hours of operation to mirror that of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection – Porthill crossing.
