[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Update - April 6, 2020

Creston, BC - April 6, 2020:  Creston, we know that each passing day feels a little bit longer than the next. The daily reminders to wash our hands and physically distance have become part of our new routine. Remember that every preventative measure we take now helps to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. In the words of Dr. Bonnie Henry “we must continue to hold the line; to keep our firewall strong and flatten the curve.”

Remembering Humboldt: Today, April 6, marks the second anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos Junior hockey team bus crash. Our hearts and thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected by this tragedy. Tomorrow, April 7, is #GreenShirtDay in honour of Humboldt Broncos defenceman Logan Boulet, who donated his organs so that six lives could live on. Please continue to share and honour their memories and remember that it is important to continue to stay connected to each other while staying (physically) apart.

Changes to Medical First Responder Services: British Columbia Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is working to reduce the risk of front line worker exposure to COVID-19 and minimize the use of personal protective equipment.  As such, firefighters will not be dispatched to calls for influenza like illnesses.  Creston Fire Rescue will continued to be dispatched to the most severe medical calls and where an ambulance may be delayed. Firefighters in the Creston Valley are dedicated to serving the residents during this time and will be there when needed.

Please note that the Update from Creston Valley Physicians and Medical Staff for April 6, 2020 is also available on our website.
