[ARCHIVED] COVID - 19: Updates, Information and Resources

The Town of Creston is working closely with the Provincial government, Interior Health Authority, the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK), and other partner agencies to monitor the COVID-19 situation and respond appropriately.

The health and safety of our employees and community members is our first priority. We continue to follow the guidance of our local experts at BC Centre for Disease Control, at Health Canada and at other global health organizations to help prevent the spread of infection. Our goal, along with our RDCK partners, is to ensure accurate and coordinated information is available as it relates to our community.

There are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in BC and Canada, but the risk to Canadians and to the residents of Creston continues to be low. The situation is evolving, and we remain ready to respond as needed.

As of March 14, 2020, the Town of Creston activated an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) at Level 1. Activating the EOC provides a mechanism to centralize planning and coordinate communications. The EOC will be responsible for preparing for possible impacts and ensuring continuity of Town services. We will be working with our partners at the RDCK, through our shared emergency management program to further coordinate our efforts of keeping residents informed.

We have created a new page on creston.ca which will continue to be updated with the latest information and resources as they become available.
