Please be advised that the Town of Creston will be treating the outer perimeter of Steve's Ride Trail (330 - 11 Ave. S.) with the herbicide Glyphosate to eradicate poison hemlock. The Glyphosate application will take place beginning at 5 am on Wednesday, June 5. Steve's Ride Trail will remain OPEN but please DO NOT enter the treated area before 2 pm on Friday, June 7. Information notices will be posted at the trail head and the affected area will be marked with stakes, flagging tape and signage.
It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to note that in addition to being invasive, poison hemlock poses an acute human health risk. All parts of the plant are DEADLY to people, livestock, and wildlife when ingested.
More information regarding poison hemlock can be found on the Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society website: https://ckiss.ca/species/poison-hemlock/
We thank you for your cooperation.
