I recently attended a 2 day Local Government Leadership Forum in the company of 25 Mayors and Regional District Chairs from around the Province. At that Forum an observation was made that with the arrival of 2018, "silly season” has officially commenced throughout the Province of BC; the period leading up to the local government election scheduled for October 20th of this year. The phrase “silly season” is used widely in the political realm, and usually refers to a time when undeliverable promises and frivolous accusations are the order of the day leading up to election time.
