ALTERNATIVE APPROVAL PROCESS re: Arrow Creek Water Main Replacement and System Improvements – Final Phase Project Financing

The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) Arrow Creek Water Treatment and Supply Service provides water to Erickson and the Town of Creston.

“The Arrow Creek pipeline replacement project will finally be done after many years of persistence and hard work by the RDCK and Town of Creston staffs. This project is a legacy that will last into the next century”, stated Mayor Ron Toyota.

The final stage of the project will cost $5,601,272. The Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia have awarded a $4,179,028 Clean Water & Wastewater Fund grant to the RDCK, for the Final Phase of the Arrow Creek Water Main Replacement and System Improvements project.

In order to secure this grant, the Town of Creston and the RDCK require public approval to finance the amount of $1,422,244. An Alternative Approval Process will be used to gain that approval.

In order to share project and Alternative Approval Process information, an Open House has been set for Wednesday, January 25, 2017, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Kootenay Room at the Creston & District Community Complex, 312 – 19th Avenue North. Residents and property owners in the Town of Creston and Erickson are encouraged to attend this Open House, which will provide important information on the project and the effect of borrowing.

The Town of Creston and the RDCK have distributed information to all Town and Erickson mail boxes.
