Blocked Sewer
In case of a blocked sewer:

In case of a water leak:
Town staff are performing assessments on all manholes in town. The information provided by these assessments will:
Municipal Water Shut-Off Valve (Curb-Stop) Program
Town crews are presently engaged in a program of locating and mapping all town curb stops. The curb stop allows crews to shut off the water to your home should your home water shut-off valve (required by bylaw) fail. A door-hanger will be placed at your home to confirm that your curb stop has been located and tested for functionality.
Please ensure that the curb stop is left accessible at all times. This will assist the town crews to act swiftly in the event of the water supply needing to be turned off in an emergency. Should you be unable to locate your curb stop, please call the Public Works Department at 250-428-2214, extension 620 for assistance.
In case of a blocked sewer:
- Call the Town of Creston at 250-428-2214. An after hour answering service is available, and this service will contact the on-call crew member.
- Town of Creston will check the sewer main.
- If there is a clean out on property line the Town of Creston will snake it.
- If after the clean out has been snaked and is clear to the sewer main and the blockage is on private property, the owner will have to call a private contractor
- If there is no clean out and the sewer main is running, then the owner must call a contractor.
- The owner has the right to have a contractor camera their sewer service.
Water Leak
In case of a water leak:
- Call the Town of Creston at 250-428-2214. An after hour answering service is available, and this service will contact the on-call crew member.

The town will check the valve at the property line to determine if the leak is on town property or owner’s property.
- If the leak is on owner’s property then the town will instruct the owner to call a contractor to repair it.
- If the leak is on Town property the town will repair it.

- Provide indications of excessive inflow and infiltration i.e. rain and/or groundwater entering into the sewer system
